Dear Ms. Smith:

I saw the open position adversing posted by you on bcjobs for a teacher for kids aged 4-6. I am very interested in this job, so I am requesting an interview for it.

I used to work in the Butterfly Kindergarten in Toronto for five years.

My work was highly praise by the school and parents. I also have a certificate of Early Childhood Education from Toronto Community College six years ago.

I am looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you!

ADVICE: You can use this more formal format for any kind of important letter.

I use a more formal style even for important emails relating to work or business.

A formal style make you sound organized and professional. You can always get casual later.

IMPORTANT ADVICE: Get somebody else to proofread your letter before you send it. Fresh eyes can see things that you missed: grammar, spelling, tone, word choice. It is good to have a friend or teacher who you can ask to proofread.

One piece of dark chocolate – my price.

** IMPORTANT ADVICE: If at all possible, keep a business letter to one page. I often spend a lot of time editting a long business letter down a single page.

Email correspondence:

** Subject Line is very important**
