EF34 7PM June 2

Good evening, everybody.

We will get started at 7:00.

Cameras on. Mics muted until you are ready to talk.

Today’s agenda:

·      Discuss midterm recommendations and summer registration

·      Narrative writing

·      Test#2 Narrative paragraph

A bunch of people emailed me for midterm recommendations. I responded.

My response:

Hello,

The midterm mark is an average of the marked work we have done so far.

The cutoff average for early registration for next term is 65%.

The final passmark for the class is 50%.

Your midterm mark is 59%.

You should not register for the next level, yet.

Best,

Al

I sent my recommendations to you if you emailed me and to the office.

A few people emailed me and said, “Can I have my midterm?”

NO NAME, NO CLASS, NO TIME.

If you emailed me and didn’t hear back, that’s probably why.

Registration for summer began today. You can register is you have a midterm recommendation to go to the next level.

New way to register:

https://moodle.vsb.bc.ca/summer.php

You need a Moodle account.

PEN – Personal Education Number. All VSB students have one. You do, too.

When you are singing up for the summer class, use the email that you use for school business. The program will find your PEN for you. If the program can not find your PEN, a teacher will get a message and will find it for you.

***Very important ***

It doesn’t matter what your average is. It’s not important.

What’s important is that your English is getting better a little bit each week.

Summer schedule Monday-Friday

https://www.vsb.bc.ca/Student_Learning/Adult_Education/Documents/Summer%20Schedule%202021%20Final.pdf

We do a smaller term in the summer. We have a bare bones schedule.

There are no evening classes in the summer.

Register as quickly as you are able, if you have the midterm recommendation for early registration.

Registration for September courses will begin in the summer. You will get an email.

I have been teaching in this school since 1993. I always do summer school.

One course is the maximum.

I will teach English Foundations 6 in the summer.

For September, I don’t know yet.

A lot of student retake their English in the summer just for review.

I recommend students not take English 10 or 12 in the summer. You have more time in September.
