These verbs can be followed by either an infinitive or a gerund with no difference in meaning:
-begin, start, continue, like, love, prefer, hate, can’t stand
can’t stand – cannot tolerate, really do not like
-infinitive (verb): to go, to sleep, to eat, to run
-gerund (noun): going, sleeping, eating, running
like + to eat I like to eat Ethiopian food.
like + eating I like eating Ethiopian food.
