SCHOOL
Summer school will run July 5-August 6.
When does registration begin for summer school? I don’t know. It
will be soon.
I will give midterm recommendations to everyone before the first
day of registration for summer. It will probably be very soon.
Midterm recommendations/ Interim recommendations will be based on
the marks we have so far.

Pass mark for the course is 50%. On the last day of class, if you
have 50%+, then you pass.
65% is only for the early midterm recommendation.
The reason is this: We don’t want to give early recommendations
to students who are barely passing.
For the summer, I am scheduled to teach English Foundations 6.
If you take a break from SHEC for less than a year, you can
normally just start where you left off.
If you take a break for a couples of years, then we will probably
want to retest you.

11/12 The reason is the provincial government does not fund
Adult Education the same as K-12.
We get about 60% of the money that regular K-12 does.

Next week, I meeting about funding for Ad Ed. I will
be away Tuesday, Thursday and Friday next week.
Adult Education is very important. I have teaching AE
since 1993.
I have seen thousands of students finish high school
and go to college, university, better jobs, better lives because of AE.

We will keep fighting to build AE.
In 1993, there were seven AE schools in Vancouver. Now
there is only one.
We had 250 teachers. Now we have about 25.
