Using Quotations

incorporate text from other sources into our own writing

“ “

- just a few words (1-4,5)

- quotation has to be grammatical

- You write the sentence. The quoted words are inside your sentence.

Example:

“I will work harder.”

- “personal motto”(18) Boxer

-shows he is responsible, hardworking, good “comrade“

-he is an example to the other animals, inspiring GOOD POINT, NO ROOM

-he’s true believer in the rebellion

The phrase “I will work harder” comes from Boxer, the big horse. It is his “personal motto”(18) which he says to himself when he is facing hard work; this shows that he feels very responsible for the success of the farm, and that he is a true believer in the rebellion.

“personal motto” is incorporated into my sentence
