similes - comparison between two different things using the words 'like' or 'as'

She is as tall as a tree/giraffe. simile
She is as tall as her mother. not simile

The clouds are as fluffy as cotton balls.
The clouds look like pillows.
The water in the lake looks like a mirror.
The water in the lake is as clear as crystal.
The water in the lake is crystal-clear.

The math is crystal-clear to me. I get it.
