ROUGH PASS-IN COPY
One major conflict in “The Wise Woman of Cordoba” is person vs person, that is, the Wise Woman versus the judge. The main problem is that the judge thinks he is more powerful than the Wise Woman, but she shows him that he is not. First, the judge wants to control her, but she’s too powerful to be controlled. The judge tries to get her to “confess”; however, he is not successful. Secondly, the judge speaks very rudely to her which shows that he does not respect her. He insults her by calling her a “Wretched woman!”. Despite this insult, she just laughs at him. The final point is that he wants to keep her in jail to punish her; nevertheless, she escapes when she “leap[s] into the boat” and vanishes through the wall. In the end, the Wise Woman was victorious over the judge.
