EF5/6 Using quoted material in paragraphs

Incorporate quoted material in out senses.

The director of the museum wanted to solve the problem of the singing totem pole without alerting any of the customers. For example, "do it quietly." XXX

Not right. 

For example, "do it quietly." Not a sentence.
No incorporation at all.

For example, he told the workers to get rid of the pole "quietly" in order to not disturb anyone.

It's incorporated into out sentence.

Quotations - way too long. 

The director said, "we can't have it making noises in the middle of a show on seascapes". XXX Not right

Choose the 2-3-4 key words. Only the words that are most important. Incorporate them.

The director didn't want to have the totem "making noises" and ruining the show.

Every sentence has to SIMPLE, COMPOUND, or COMPLEX.

The challenge is to shape the big good ideas and write them into English sentences. Big challenge! That's why we here.

Possible topic sentences:

  The deeper meaning of the story "Totem" is about the relationship between First Nations and white people in Canada.

  The story "Totem" is funny, but it has a deep meaning.  The deeper meaning of the story "Totem" is First Nations people have been treated through history in Canada.

  The deep meaning of "Totem" is very important. The story "Totem" is very important because it has many symbols about the relationship between First Nations and the Canadian government.
