Paragraph writing process-

Two stages:
PREWRITING (5-8m)
1. Analyze the topic
2. Generate ideas and vocab - key words
3. Organize the ideas

WRITING
4. Rough copy
5. Proofread and edit
6. Good copy


Often the students who try to think and write at the same time  are not as successful as the students who break the process into two stages.


Main challenges:
1. Basic sentences - SIMPLE COMPOUND COMPLEX
2. Vocabulary - lack of rich vocabulary, high precision words
3. Phrasing  - authentic English phrasing, English that sounds like English, lack of familiarity with real English



handiwork - jobs around the house
"She is very handy around the house. She can fix things."
DIY - do it yourself, you can do your own car/house/bicycle/guitar repairs


Embarrassment In School
1. Grade school is not always a pleasant and or happy place.
She speak Mandarin and English.
She doesn't speak Korean or Tagalog.

Begin a sentence with SOBA, is a very casual style of writing. Not great for academic writing.

Thanksgiving - roast turkey, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, gravy,
wine, beer
dessert - pumpkin pie, apple pie

tryptophan - chemical in turkey, makes people sleepy

turkey is very low fat, high-protein, also low taste
