Queen Victoria was the monarch when Canada became a country in 1867.

Many things, cities, places in Commonwealth countries are named after Queen Victoria.

New Westminster was a very important city in the mid 1800s.

The monarch (queen or king) is the head of the Canadian government. This is symbolic only. They have no power. They are a figurehead.

The monarch’s representative in Canada is the Governor General. Her name is Mary Simon and is Inuit.

 

What countries have a king or queen?

Japan has an emperor. He is a figurehead.
