1. SIMPLE

Simple Sentence
A simple sentence -a
subject and a verb
-expresses a
complete thought.
Different types of simple sentences:
SV – 1 subject + 1 verb
SSV- 2 subjects + 1 verb
SVV- 1 subject + 2 verbs
SSVV-2 subjects + 2 verbs
Imperative (command)- tell someone to do something
Interrogative (question)- ask someone a question
* SV – 1 subject + 1 verb
Your friend is
beautiful/handsome/funny.
Sarah does her
homework at night.
Your brother works in
construction.
*REMEMBER:
Begin with a capital letter.
End with a period.
**Don’t write in all capital letters. The only capital letters
should be the first letter of the first word in a sentence and the first letter
of proper nouns.

** Thinking about SV helps to structure your sentence.
When I write for school or work, I always have SV in my mind.

PRACTICE:
Take put a piece of paper. Write some SV, SSV, SVV, SSVV simple
sentences from your own imagination. Please work together if you wish. Try some
imperative and interrogative questions.
