Compound sentences


SV, SOBA SV. I like ice cream, and she likes chocolate.

SV ; SV. I like ice cream; she likes chocolate.

SV ; TRANS, SV. I like ice cream; however, she likes chocolate.


This will bring our sentence writing up a level.


ERROR

I like ice cream. And, she likes chocolate. XXX very casual, informal, not good for school

SOLUTIONS

I like ice cream, and she likes chocolate.

I like ice cream; she likes chocolate.

I like ice cream; however, she likes chocolate.


Transitional terms:

- however

I want to buy a new guitar, but it is too expensive.

- therefore

The air quality is very low in Vancouver this week; therefore, most outside sports have been postponed.


- also

Sarah likes to go hiking; also, she is into cycling.


- consequently
