Good afternoon.

We’ll get started at 1:30.

Today’s agenda:

1.  Continue with compound sentences , SOBA and ;

2.  Literary Terms

3.  “Penny in the Dust” small group discussion

4.  Homework

Do the other compound sentence exercises. Try new transitional terms. Don’t just use ‘SOBA’, ‘however’, and ‘therefore’.

Think about “Penny in the Dust”. Either tomorrow or Thursday, we will write a paragraph to pass in.

 

 

We normally have a quiz and a test each week.

Also, I will ask you to pass-in homework sometimes.

We will probably have a short quiz on compound sentences tomorrow. It is a secret quiz, so don’t tell anybody.

Later this week, we will write a paragraph about “Penny in the Dust”.

Compound Sentence Exercises

 

Directions: Add a clause to each simple sentence to create a compound sentence. Use SOBA or a semicolon.

 

1.     My puppy has a new collar, and he looks cute.

2.     The photographer took out his camera, so everyone got together for a picture.

 

3.     I wanted to buy a puppy, but my daughter is allergic.
