A few reminders:

1. When you send me an email for class, either a message, a quiz or a test, you must write your NAME and CLASS in the subject line.

If you do not, I will not know who you are.

2. When you email me a quiz or test, please send the quiz or test as an attachment. If you do not, I will be unable to make comments or corrections.

3. When you save your quiz or test, please name it with your NAME and CLASS and some description, such as QUIZ#1 or TEST#2. Then I will know the quiz or test is yours.

3.    Finish “Homeschooling”

4.    Homework          Review compound sentences. We will do another

The quiz was a good start, and we can get better.

We found some areas that we can improve on.

 

Quiz #2 (30m)

Make a compound sentence for each.

Ex.     party                     but

I can’t come to the party, but my sister can.

 

A compound sentence has two parts.

Subject and verb, SOBA subject and verb.

It is sunny today, and it will be sunny tomorrow.

 

1.    recipe                   and

My sister gave me a recipe, and I want to try it.

The recipe is easy, and the food is good.

 

2.    ingredients          so

I don’t have all of the ingredients, so I will buy them.

 

FREE ADVICE #2-          Don’t write long sentences. You will get into trouble. Write short clear sentences.

3.    meal                    or

You can cook a meal, or you can get takeout.

takeout – food from a restaurant that you take home

All restaurants in Vancouver right now are doing only takeout.

4.    spoon                   so

I swallowed my spoon, so I had to get another one.

The spoon is dirty, so you should clean it.

I dont have spoon ,so I m eating with hand

I don’t have a spoon, so I’m eating with my hand.

5.    seasoning            and

I use a lot of seasoning in my soup, and it is delicious.

I use a lot of seasoning in my dumplings, and they are delicious.

 

6.    temperature       but

The temperature is cold, but I don’t mind.

 

I don’t mind. = It doesn’t bother me. It is not a big deal. No complaints.

6.    Tina can cook a simple meal at home, or she can take out from a restaurant.

7.    I like to make the morning meal or evening meal. SIMPLE

 

Some of us are a little confused about the difference between simple and compound.

 

8.    I don't have lunch, or other yester day. XXX

I didn’t have lunch or anything else yesterday. SIMPLE

9.    I eat my food with a spoon, so I don’t need my fork.

10.                       My sister is going to make a recipe from grandma, and her daughter will help her.

11.                       I already bought ingredients to make a delicious grilled chicken, so I am happy.

12.                       Today, the temperature is very high, but yesterday was very cold.

13.                       I don't like high temperature, but I like going outside.

14.                       Mary needs many ingredients, so she will go to buy them.

15.                       The quality of the ingredients is important, so I buy

reputable brands.

16.                       I just want my own spoon, so I take it back from my sister.
