Prewriting
1. Analyze the topic.
Read it very carefully. Read every word twice.
"Compare how two characters ..."
Format. Length

2. Generate good ideas, interesting ideas, not boring

3. Organize the ideas
You choose which mode of organization.

* TIME - chronological, step by step
narrative writing, expository, process

* SPACE - physical, top to bottom, side to side, far away to close up
descriptive writing

* IMPORTANCE - least important to most important, most important point last
persuasive writing


Writing

4. Rough copy/draft
Topic sentence
Body sentences
Concluding sentence

5. Proofread and edit.
Make the corrections that you need to.

6. Good copy
Pass in the rough copy. As long as it is legible/readable, it is ok.
