Those are all the sentence styles in English. Those are enough for high school, for college, for jobs.
Doesn't have to be any fancier than that.

Variety! Mix it up. Actively mix them up.
Be aware of the styles you are writing.

Paragraphs
- academic - school, high school, college, university
- Grade 10, 11, 12 - you'll know what to do

Paragraph structure

Topic sentence - introduction to the paragraph, first sentence, one sentence - tell the topic, tell the controlling idea

Should marijuana be legal?

Topic sentence:
Marijuana should not be legal because it affects our society in a negative way.

Marijuana should be legal because it brings great benefits to people who need it and is a relatively harmless drug.

Begin with a topic sentence. A topic sentence has TOPIC, CONTROLLING IDEA, and PREDICTOR

Four kinds of paragraphs, modes of writing
1. Narrative writing - tells a story
2. Descriptive writing - describe, descriptive language, adjectives, descriptive words
Appeal to the 5 senses: hearing, smell, touch, taste, sight
3. Process/Expository writing- show how to do something, teach it, explain how it works
4. Persuasive writing - persuade, convince, explain your opinion, try to get the other person to agree
