Paragraph Format

When you write a paragraph, you must follow certain rules about format.  Format means how the paragraph looks on a page.  Here are some key points about format to remember when writing a paragraph:

1.    Double-space. This allows the teacher to make comments about your writing and offer corrections.  It also make your writing easier to read.

2.    Write in pen, not pencil.  Black or blue ink is best.  Leave the green, pink and silver pens at home.

3.    Indent the first word of the paragraph.  Start your first sentence of each paragraph about two cm in from the margin.  If you are using computer, use the TAB key.

4.    Respect the margins.  Keep your writing between the margins.

5.    Don’t start each new sentence on a new line. The paragraph should look like a box.

6.    Don’t use numbering or bullet points.

7.    Make sure each sentence is a real sentence.

Other considerations:

8.    Name and class in top righthand corner.

9.    Orient the paper properly.

10.                       Make it nice and neat.

HW   If you have time, write a short paragraph about what you did on

the weekend. I can come around tomorrow and have a look at them.
