EF12 Class 38- Review, descriptive writing

 

Good morning, everyone.

We will get started at 11:45.

 

This Friday, tomorrow, is the last day of class.

Next week is a break. There will be no school next week.

You will come back to school on Monday, November 14th.

You will start your class on that day.

·      Finals marks- Your final mark will be based on the quizzes, the tests, and a spoken mark. I will drop your one lowest mark. This will help bring your mark up a bit.

·      You can come to class to get your final mark.

·      If you gave me the books, Facts and Figures, back, you can email me from 11:45-2. I will email you your mark.

COMPLEX SENTENCES

 

-when- time

I will study in a veterinary school when I finish English.

vet- animal doctor

She eats chocolate when she is sad.

 

-because- reason

She is coughing because the water went down the wrong way.

He is happy because he got a new job.

We are sad because our class is finished.

Ali can’t come to class tomorrow because he has an appointment.

 

That is a really good foundation for writing sentences.

 

 

VERB TENSES

-simple present – usually action, everyday

Joe drinks black coffee in the morning.

My mom listens to the radio.

Egbal lives in Burnaby.

 

-simple past- one event in the past

Joe drank black coffee this morning.

My mom listened to the radio last night.

Egbal lived in Burnaby in 2005.

 

-present continiuous/ present progressive- happening right now

It is raining.

The little girl is running and laughing in the playground.

You are listening to me. I am talking to you.

-simple future – one event in the future

I will see a movie tomorrow.

He will get some groceries tomorrow.

She won’t come to class tomorrow.

She won’t/ will not come to class tomorrow because she has a hair appointment.

 

Those are very useful verb tenses.

 

This is a good start. This is step 1 and step 2.
