“Correction Codes”

-shorthand for marking

-most common errors, mistakes, “challenge”

 

 

EUPHEMISM – a more polite word than tha real word

 

mistake, problem - “challenge” The business is experiencing some financial challenges this year.

REAL MEANING They’re going broke.

 

dead, die – pass away, gone, passed over

toilet- bathroom, restroom, washroom

 

Figure out your mistakes challenges.

 

 

punc – punctuation   commas   periods   semicolons

 

frag – sentence fragment- a piece of a sentence, not a full sentence

 

ro- run on sentence – two sentences wothout punctuation between

them

 

 vt – verb tense- 12 basic tenses

vocab “really interesting” – fascinating (a), captivating, amazing

 

RW- rewrite   Try it again. Try writing it in a different way.

Begin with a topic sentence. Write a sentence.

topic sentence- usually first or second sentence – addresses the topic, addresses the question – addresses the topic and gives a controlling idea

controlling idea- the direction you are taking with your paragraph

*Don’t drift off topic.
