Writing Friday

1.    Name

My name is Sally. I am called Rosa.

2.    Home

My home country is Eritria. My home city is Shanghai, China. My home city is Florencia, Colombia. I am from Syria. I am from Guangzhou, China. I was born in Saudi Arabia. I was born near Medina in Saudi Arabia. I was born in Syria.

3.    Family

I have three people in my family. I have six brothers and sisters. I have six siblings. I have eight siblings: five brothers and three sisters. : colon

My wife and two daughters live with me in Vancouver.

I don’t have any family in Canada. My family lives in Colombia.

I am married. I am single. I am divorced. I am separated.

I am a widow. (woman)   I am a widower. (man)

My wife passed away. I am a widower.

My husband died. I am a widow.

4.    Job

I was a factory director in my home country. I was a banker in Iran. I was a chef in Jordan. I was a high school student in Viet Nam.

In Canada, I work as a teacher/house painter/ interior and exterior painter.

I want to be a receptionist. I would like to be Prime Minister.

I would like to be a banker again in Canada.

5.    Hobbies

I like to go camping. I like camping.

I love cooking Afghani food.

I love to make pizza.

I love making/playing music with my friends.

I like Iranian dancing.

I like to play volleyball.

I want to see my mother again.

6.    Travel

I travelled to Syria, Iran, and Canada.

I visited Vancouver, Seattle, and Tokyo.

7.    Future plans

I want to have really good English skills.

I want to be able to speak English perfectly.

I want to speak English fluently.

1.    SIMPLE

3.    COMPLEX

 

Simple Sentence

A simple sentence is one group of words that has a subject and a verb and expresses a complete thought.

Different types of simple sentences:

SV – 1 subject + 1 verb

SSV- 2 subjects + 1 verb

SVV- 1 subject + 2 verbs

Imperative (command)- tell someone to do something

Interrogative (question)- ask someone a question

 

* SV – 1 subject + 1 verb

Your friend is beautiful/handsome.

Sarah does her homework at night.

Your brother works in construction.

 

Begin with a capital letter.

End with a period.

‘we’ plural- more than one, two or a thousand

 

* SSV- 2 subjects + 1 verb

My sister and I go on vacation.

The parks and the trees in Vancouver are nice.

 

*SVV- 1 subject + 2 verbs

My wife cooks and washes the dishes everyday.

I clean the bathroom and do the laundry.

I drive my car to school and study English five days a week.

Sarah likes swimming but hates biking.

Mohammad likes dogs but does not have a dog right now. SVV

Shira bought a new phone and sold her old one. SVV

Manuel is from Mexico but lives in Canada. SVV

 

* Imperative (command)- tell someone to do something

Introduce yourself.

*Interrogative (question)- ask someone a question
