EF12 Class 16- compound sentences, "The Date Palm"

Quiz #4 Compound Sentences

Write a compound sentence for each.

1.    ocean         and

The ocean is beautiful, and it is deep.

I like to swim in the ocean, and I want to go there.

The ocean is big, and the lake is small.

The ocean is blue, and the sky is blue.

 

I like to swim in the ocean.

I like swimming in the ocean.

 

2.    percent      so

My phone is at 1%, so I have to charge it.

We pay 12 percent tax in BC, so things are expensive.

 

3.    clouds        but

The clouds are grey, but it is not raining.

The sky is cloudy today, but it is not raining/rainy.

The weather is cloudy, but it is warm.

 

 

4.    salt              and

Salt is tasty, and I put it on my food.

 

5.    famous       so

Justin Beiber is famous, so many people know him.

6.    river            but

The river is warm, but the lake is cold.

 

GOAL   SV, SOBA SV.

We will keep practicing compound sentences today. We will try another quiz tomorrow.

 

Format

·      Keep it neat.

·      Write on the lines.

·      Doublespace

·      Write between the margins.

 

Sentence structure

·      Capitals and periods.

·      Follow the structure- SV, SOBA SV.

when- sounds like ‘men’
