You can get lost in your sentence if you get too complicated. Sometimes we think too much.

Misplaced modifiers-

The woman who lives next door is very friendly.

The woman is very friendly who lives next door. wrong place

 

adj cl comes right next to the noun

My sister who is a nurse bought an old table.

The man saw a cat who was riding a bicycle.

For the final week of our class, we will be using all of these together.

 

 

 

These are the example of sentences that have quoted words/material/text in them.

 

1.    Some of the people in the city of Cordoba said that the Wise Woman had “contact with the devil”.

 

2.    Surprisingly, when the Wise Woman was imprisoned, “the witch had escaped” according to the news.

 

3.    The people of Cordoba said that the Wise Woman was “married to the devil” for she never had any relationship with any men.

 

4.    The Wise woman should be "burned to death", although she escaped in the end.

 

5.    The judge saw “an enormous ship” which looked like a real ship.

 

6.    The Wise Woman was very rich because the authorities found

“ ten barrels of gold” at her home.

 

7.    The Wise Woman who can “travel across the wall” on a drawing of a ship must be a witch.

8.    The wise woman was a good person who helped people in different ways in the city “always helped those in difficulty” XXX

** If you write just with your own words, you do not use quoation marks. Quotation marks are only for the words that you take/borrow from the book/story/text.

 

Keep your quotations to just a few words- 2,3,4 words

You have to make a judgement call. Why are using these words? Are they your own words or are they words from the story?

When you are writing your paragraph, you can borrow/quote/take a few words from the story and quiote them in your sentences.
