SIMPLE FUTURE  will = be going to

 

HIGHER LEVEL VERB FOR EF345

He should be going to the party.

 

‘Will’ and ‘be going to’ are a little bit different.

EASIEST WAY TO EXPLAIN:

will- You decide right now. in the moment

be going to – You already decided before.

 

decide- make a plan, choose

 

I am going to go to church. modal- be going to + go

I am going to church.

 

I am going to pick up my son at school at 3.

I want to pick up my son at school at 3.

 

I was writing a screenplay last year. past continuous- next week

 

I bought a new car last week. I am going to buy another car next week.

bought- simple past

am going to buy – simple future

 

I am going to an appointment.

I am going to go to an appointment.

 

I want to go to an appointment. NOT THE SAME MEANING

 

I want to relax, so I am going to go to the park.

I want to go home, but I am going to pick up my son.

 

I want to relax. My friends will/are going to come to my house.

 

You want to watch TV. You are going to clean your house first.

 

I am going to sleeping. I am going to go to bed early tonight.

 

She is sleeping. present continuous- next week

 

I drank had some mojitos last week. They tasted very good. I will am going to have some mojitos this weekend.
