Presentation Project: A Person in My Life Who I
Admire
admire- respect, follow, look up to,
hero, role model
Who is a person in your life who you
admire? Choose one person. It can be any person who you know: older, younger, a
sibling, parent, relative, friend, community member, etc. It must be somebody
that you know personally.
This week, you will put together a
short presentation around the person. There will be two main parts to this
project:
WRITTEN (2 sections) (5 points)
Section 1 – long paragraph, couple
of paragraphs
-Writing describing who they are. Write
a brief biography for them. What is their name, age, etc? Give their
background. Some details of their biography. Explain who they are.
Section 2 - long paragraph, couple
of paragraphs
-Writing explaining why you admire
them. What characteristics do they have that you admire? What do they do that
you admire?
You
will give me the writing the day before you do your presentation.
I
expect you to do your own writing. ChatGBT can write it for you in one second.
That won’t challenge or help you.
SPOKEN (3-5 minutes) (5 points)
On the presentation days, you will
tell the class about this person and why you admire them. You will come to the
front of the class and talk to us. You can take a few written notes in case you
forget something. However, no reading, please. Also, it is not a great presentation
technique to memorize verbatim what you have written.
Here are some possible topics
to focus on:
Their personality traits
Their life story
Their actions
Things they have said
Their greatest achievements
Their effect on other people
How they compare to other people
When you met this person
Why you chose this person to talk about
Why you admire them
If you’d like to be like them or not
If you think you could be like them or not
We will start getting ideas together
starting today. We will take some time in the next few classes to organize,
write, and polish.
Write- You should write this by
yourself. ChatGPT can write it for you in one second. This will not help your
English.
We will do the presentations over
three days: Thursday, Friday, and Monday.
WORTH 10pts
-Writing day before 5pts
-Presentation 5pts
Sign up for a spot on the sheet at
the front of the class. We will do 8-9 per day.

**Let’s do our own writing. Let’s use the grammar work that we have
studied for the past two months.
Let’s not use a translating app or ChatGPT to do our work.
Let’s roll up our sleeves and do our best writing on our own.
The people doing their presentation Thursday, please pass in your
writing on Wednesday.
The people doing their presentation Friday will pass in their writing Thursday.
The people doing their presentation Monday will pass in their writing
Friday.
