CHEATING
WARNING!
If you cheat on a
quiz, test or essay, you will get a zero and a warning. A second time puts you
out of the class with a note for future teachers.
Cheating means
taking other people’s writing and submitting it as your own. That can be a paragraph,
a sentence, or even a phrase. There is a difference between using a phrase you
learned 10 years ago and a phrase you just copied from the internet. I’m pretty
good at spotting the difference.
The best way to
learn is to practice a skill and then test it. A good test will reveal what you
are doing well and what you have to improve upon. You work on what’s weak,
build on what’s strong- this is the path to success. If you cheat on a test,
you hide your errors from the teacher and yourself. No learning can take place
because nothing is revealed- nothing good, nothing bad.
The real problem
is that by cheating you have cheated yourself of an opportunity to learn and
improve. So, by cheating on a test, you have kicked your learning down the
road.
When you get to the next class, you
will not have the skills to succeed.
FREE ADVICE#3: Face your English problems now. Do the work
now. Be brave. Don’t waste another day.
