Introduction to ADJECTIVE CLAUSES

 

Adjective clauses describe nouns.

modify nouns

adjectives modify noun

e.g. the hat, the red hat, the big red hat, the old red hat

a dog, a beautiful dog, a smart dog

 

 

more complicated ideas – need adjective clause

hat – my sister gave me

Some languages “The my sister gave me hat...”  NOT ENGLISH

 

who  that  which

 

The hat that my sister gave me is very nice. adjective clause

 

Similar sentences in that style:

The book that I read was good.

The cookies that she baked were delicious.

The man that she married is an idiot.

 

 

Your examples:

1.    The book was good that I read. XXX wrong place- has to come after then noun ‘book’

2.    This was a good book that I read.
