Good morning, everybody.

Today is Friday, the happiest day!

This is the end of our fourth week.



Today’s agenda:

1. Continue with narrative writing

Monday  - begin adjective clauses



Paragraph writing

Types of paragraphs:

*narrative writing – telling a story

*descriptive writing – describe what something looks like, sounds like, tastes like – next week

*process writing – teaches or explains – two weeks

*persuasive writing – convince, give an opinion – two weeks



narrative paragraph – tells a short story (100-150 w)


narrate (v) tell a story

narrator (n) person who tells a story


narrative writing- often first-person narration “I”

 

Topic Sentence

The time I got lost when I was a kid was very scary.


Supporting sentences- tell the story in 5-7 sentences

I remember that I was out shopping with my mother. She was looking at clothes, and I wandered away. I saw her across the store and walked over to her. When I got next to her, I realized that this person was not my mother. It was a stranger.  KEEP TELLING THE STORY TO THE END


Concluding sentence

When my mother finally found me, she looked very relieved. My fear left me as she took my hand and we left the store together.


 ROUGH COPY

The time I got lost when I was a kid was very scary. I remember that I was out shopping with my mother. She was looking at clothes, and I wandered away. I saw her across the store and walked over to her. When I got next to her, I realized that this person was not my mother. It was a stranger. I ran around the store yelling for her. She heard me and came right over. She had been looking for me, too. When my mother finally found me, she looked very relieved. My fear left me as she took my hand and we left the store together. That was a scary moment for me.

Topic sentence

When I was a child, I was afraid that the people that I saw on the TV screen would come out of the TV at night when I was asleep. I would lie in bed feeling afraid. I would shiver with fear when I thought about it. I would hide under the blankets. I would not even get up to go to bathroom. CONTINUE THE STORY IN SEVERAL MORE SENTENCES When I think back, although it was very scary at the time, now I think it is hilarious.
