Topic sentence – first sentence, introduces the main idea of the paragraph, gives the idea of paragraph, links to the topic

e.g. Many people are demonstrating in the US and Canada because they are angry about racism. 
Many people are demonstrating in the US and Canada because of several reasons.
We can see on the news that there are protests against the government because many people are upset about racism.


Supporting sentences – gives evidence, gives details, describes, teaches, explains
First, many Black people are killed by police.
There is a lot of violence against minority people.
Many people are getting hurt by police, and people are tired of it.
People are angry because there is a lot of violence against Black people.

I hope that we can all live together peacefully.
The protests will continue until there is change.

HW – Revise and rewrite your paragraph from yesterday.
