Eng 7 / 10 / 11 Main and subordinate clauses

Clause - group of words with a subject and a verb
 subject and predicate

Two types of clauses:

Main clause - independent clause, Simple Sentence, doesn't need any help
2 main clauses are a compound sentence


Subordinate clause - "sub" under, lower than
subway- 
subtract
submarine - under water

dependent clause - 
dependents - children, elderly

dependent clause is not a sentence, needs help to be a sentence

A dependent clause needs a main clause.

DEPENDENT CLAUSE
Because it is warm.

INDEPENDENT CLAUSE
Because It is warm.

DEP CL + INDEP CL
Because it is warm, let's go to the Icy Bar.

INDEP CL + DEP CL
Let's go to the Icy Bar because it is warm.

COMPLEX SENTENCES -


"It's on me." "My treat." "You can get next time."
"I insist."
"Well, if you insist." Spoken, not written

HIGH QUALITY SENTENCES
So that you'll be ready for the exam, you need to practice everyday. Grammar is fine. Does it sound good? Choose the one you want.
