Summer - 5 weeks

get ready for English 11, English 12, post-secondary (college, university), job

Half/ half

First half (2 - 2 1/2 weeks) - writing

1. sentence writing - simple, compound, complex sentences 

really important skills, help yourself, be your own editor

2. paragraph writing - organize a paragraph, organize your ideas

- coming up with ideas to write about, high quality content (ideas)

3. essays - "multi-paragraph writing"

BASIC MODEL - 5-paragraph essay

END GOAL - You will feel more confident about writing sentences, paragraphs and essays. You will have more skills for writing.

Second half (2 1/2 - 3 weeks) - literature and poetry

- short stories

- poems

- NO NOVEL, not enough time in the summer

- literary terms

- theme

- big ideas
