Sentence writing

S + V.

subject and a verb

subject – person, thing, idea

verb- action words

verbs- verb tense

 

verb tenses

-simple present tense

He eats dinner at 5 everyday.

She works in an office.

 

 

 

 

-simple past tense

He ate dinner at 5 last night.

She worked in an office five months ago.

 

-simple future- will happen in the future “will” OR ‘am going to’

He will eat dinner at 5 tomorrow.

She will work in an office next week.

 

simple future tense-  ‘will’ + VERB

Examples:

You will go to Superstore tonight after class. SIMPLE FUTURE

You go to Superstore one day a week. SIMPLE PRESENT

You went to Superstore last night. SIMPLE PAST

Let’s practice. Write a few sentences about yourself that use simple present, simple past and simple future.

“Filling Out an Application”

Vocabulary Preview

1.    driver’s licence-

You can use your driver's licence for ID.

You can use your passport or ID Card for ID.

I have a Class 5,6 driver’s licence. 5 is for cars. 6 is for motorcycles.

Motorcycles are fun but dangerous.

2.    Keep your birth certificate in a safe place.

You can get a safety-deposit box in your bank.

You can get a small safe if you want.

3.    ID card, passport

4.    proof of residence- a letter with your name and address on it

6.    immigrant(person)

immigrate(verb)

The woman immigrated to Canada.

refugee- a person who has to leave their country because of war or politacal problems

emigrate(verb) leave a country

8.    estimate- a good guess, an approximate guess

He gave the customer an estimate on the cost of repairing his phone.

9.    clearly- east to read, easy to understand
