WRITING QUIZZES AND TESTS
You can write your quizzes, tests, on paper or using a word
processor on a computer (e.g laptop).
Trying to write
quizzes and tests on a phone is very challenging. I don’t recommend it.
If you use a word
processor, you must turn spellcheck and grammar check off. If I see you are
using spell check or grammar check, you will not be allowed to submit quizzes
and tests by computer anymore.
If you use paper,
please 8 ½ X 11 inch lined paper. I have some if you don’t have any.
1. Orient the paper properly.
2. Respect the margins (red lines)
3. Doublespace. Write on a line. Skip a
line.
On computer, 1.5 space should be ok.
4. Name, class, and date in the upper right
corner
e.g. Joe
Chen, EF3, Nov 17
Choice- paper or computer. Go back and forth
between them.
TIME-
You will have 15-20 minutes for a quiz. A quiz is only six
sentence.
You will have 50-60 minutes for a test. A test is a paragraph of
100-125 words.
All of the quizzes and tests will be done during class time.
I don’t take late work, so you must pass-in or email your work to
me by the deadline, which will be during class time.
e.g.
Test#1
Submit it to me by 12:35.
Write a 100-125 word paragraph about your favourite ice cream.
This is my work email. Use it for quizzes and tests, etc. ahaley@vsb.bc.ca
All of the quizzes and tests will be during class time at school.
I do not do take-home tests, etc. If you need take-home tests, you can take a
self-paced class.
EMAIL PROTOCOL:
You can communicate with me by email any time. I usually check my
email starting at 6am, and I shut it down around 5pm or so.
**IMPORTANT**
In the Subject line of your email, please put your name, class,
time, subject.
For example: Joe Chen, EF6, 8:30, Quiz#1
EF – English Foundations 3
If you do not put this information in the Subject line of your
email, I will not know who you are or what class you are in.
This is a chockful class, and we get through a lot of material. If
you miss class time, I can’t go back and reteach things. You can check the blog
to see the basic outline of what we did that day.
haleyshec.blogspot.com
If you miss a quiz or test, you can use the replacement quiz or
test to make it up. If you know you are going to miss a quiz or test, let me know
a couple of days before, and we can arrange another time for you to take the
quiz or test.
e.g. Send me an email
Hi Al,
I will miss the quiz on Thursday. My grandmother is getting out of
jail, and I have to pick her up.
Joe
REPLY.
Thanks, Joe. You can do the quiz Friday when you get back. Good luck.
Al
** You must keep up the work. If you miss classes, are late, or
miss quizzes and tests, you will fall behind. **
