EF 3/4 Main and subordinate clauses

Clauses - a group of words that has a subject and a verb

main clause- S V, independent, sentence by itself
"Jacqueline is very happy today."

subordinate clause - S V , not a sentence by itself, dependent
sub - under, subway, substitute, 
"Because her son is home from California."

"Jacqueline is very happy today." main
"Because her son is home from California." sub

"Jacqueline is very happy today." SIMPLE
"Because Her son is home from California." SIMPLE

"Jacqueline is very happy today, and her son is home from California." COMPOUND
"Jacqueline's son is home from California, so she is very happy today." COMPOUND

"Jacqueline is very happy today because her son is home from California." COMPLEX
