EF 3/4 Parts of Speech

Nouns - things, people, place, ideas (concept, abstract)
proper noun - Vancouver, China, Tuesday, Maria, Doctor Ahmed, Mrs. Chen, White Spot 
compound nouns - bookstore, doorknob, watermelon, teaspoon, tablespoon, grasshopper

Verbs - action words
sit, run, eat, sleep, fight, read

state of being
is, likes, wants
He is tall.
She likes ice cream.

Adjectives - describe nouns

opinion- beautiful, ugly
colour- bright pink, dark blue, sky blue, purple, light green, grass green, forest green, lime green, fire-engine red, robin's egg blue, pale blue,

beer - pale ale, dark lager

size- small, medium, large, tiny, petite, huge, humongous, gigantic, enormous, "ginormous",

Adverbs -describe verbs

"ly" words
