Good morning, everyone.

 

Today’s class plan

·      Go over your homework sentences using possessive Pronouns.

·      Go“My Culture”- presentation-

Prepare a short presentation about some aspect of your culture.

It could be about a holiday or celebration, a tradition, art, music, food, whatever you like.

You will come to front of the class and tell us about it.

·      “Interviewing for a Job”

 

Work to finish in the next week and a half:

·      NEW ITEM “Articles” Practice present progressive/continuous verb tense

·       Begin complex sentences- adverb clauses

Easy to confuse! English speakers often get it wrong, too.

its -possessive  The dog is chasing its tail.

it’s- contraction it is It’s raining today.

 

 

 

These are your examples of sentences using possessive pronouns.

 

1.    The kids were very happy with their Halloween costumes.

2.    Tom likes his job.

3.    Did you do your homework?

4.    I like my sister, and her kids are like my kids. COMPOUND SENTENCE

5.    We like our teacher because he is very kind.

6.    In the mountain snowed, it's snowy.

FIX It’s snowing on the mountain.

It’s = It is   NOT POSSESSIVE

7.    The dog is sleep, it's bored.

FIX

The dog is sleeping. It's bored.

is sleeping – present progressive

It’s = It is   NOT POSSESSIVE

 

8.    The kitchen is clean(adjective) now, it's dirty in the morning.

FIX

Shira is cleaning her kitchen.

Shira cleaned her kitchen last night.

Shira cleans her kitchen every day. I clean my kitchen every day.

Shira will clean her kitchen after lunch.

 

These are top-quality sentences.

 

The kitchen is clean now. It was dirty in the morning.

It’s = It is   NOT POSSESSIVE

 

Verb tenses: simple present, simple past, simple future, and present progressive

 

9.    It doesn't rain during the summer. NOT POSSESSIVE

10.                       His book on the shelf, but he doesn’t see it.

Her baking is wonderful.

ANOTHER WAY TO SAY IT: I go by Stephanie.

“Preparing for an Interview”

Telephone interviews are very challenging. They are nerve-wracking.

Face-to-face interviews are much nicer. You can get non-verbal communication e.g. facial expressions, body language).
