Review of verb tenses

simple present

simple past

simple future

 

present progressive AUXILIARY + ‘ing’

The dog is sleeping. – happening right now

The sun is shining. The kids are playing in the park.

The kids playing in the park. XXX vf

The kids are playing in the park.

 

past progressive AUXILIARY + ‘ing’ in the past\

-used often when there is an interruption, something else happens

Mei watched a movie last night. simple past

Mei was watching a movie last night. past progressive

Mei was watching a movie last night when the storm started.

The power went out when Mei was watching a movie last night.

 

Class Work:

Practice using some verbs.

Write some simple, compound, and complex sentences using your own imagination using these verbs. Try different verb tenses:

remember- She remembered that your birthday is today.

I am remembering am trying to remember what her name is. It is on the tip of tongue.

IDIOM It is on the tip of tongue. You are trying to remember something but can’t quite remember.
