- mechanization of industry, machines doing the work
- presently, computer revolution, robot revolution
- surgery, industrial farming, harvesting, 
- driving work- taxis, personal cars - taken over self-driving cars, TESLA, Google
- machines taking over jobs

- 200 years ago- cottage industry , small scale production of goods, 

village - weaver, cobbler, leather-worker, saddle maker, pottery

mechanization of production - industrial loom

factories appearing in cities

All of these machines were powered by steam engines
boiling water - drives a turbine

The steam was created by heat from burning coal.

coal was king!!!

coal miners - 

testimony - give evidence, tell a true story

a staple - basic main food
