Many people don't like poetry.
- different words, unusual words, low-frequency words
- hard to understand
- use your imagination
- conveys feelings and emotions
- dense meaning, in few words

- poetry is full of symbols, sign of somthing
an object represents something else, meaning
flag is a symbol

Li Bai, famous ancient Chinese poet
full moon - symbol, family, longing, nostalgic, homesick
festivals under the full moon, dinner during the full moon, home, welcome, everyone together

Western culture - full moon is a symbol of evil, darkness, fear
associated with evil creatures - vampires, witch, werewolf - were, wor world, 'the place of man'

hard to understand cultural references

crescent moon -good, positive symbol

croissant - media luna

moon is a symbol of femininity
female in language, 

moon - feminine, a lua, la lun, la luna
sun - masculine, o sol, le soleil, el sol

luna - crazy, insanity
lunatic, loony
That's a loony idea.
femininity is associated with evil, craziness

patriarchy - patron (father) , men are in control of women
matriarchy - women are in control

sections of a poem - stanzas

usually , often stanzas will be quatrains

rhyme - words that have similar sounds
end rhyme - last syllables rhyme
perfect rhyme- pen, hen, table, fable, cable
close rhyme - table, marble, pen, fin
eye rhyme - looks like a rhyme, doesn't sound like a rhyme  bough, tough

rhyme scheme - plan, organization of rhymes
