EF5/6 Subjects and predicates

a. imperative
no subject, implied subject
You come in.
Come in.

b. You are happy.
Are you happy?

c. here/there - not subject
Here are your keys.
Here is/are the school where all of us study English.
You have to know what your main subject is.

d. infinitives/ gerunds

infinitive "to eat"
gerund "eating" noun
Eating too much sugar is not good for you.
Snowboarding is a great sport in the wintertime.

To eat too much sugar is not good for you.
To snowboard is a great sport in the wintertime.
VERY STRANGE SOUNDING

Gerunds look like verbs, but they are nouns.
We were driving in the car. driving - verb
Driving is relaxing to me. driving - noun, gerund

Use gerunds, not infinitives, as subjects.

Commas are very personal.

The cat with blue eyes is beautiful.
