Write a sentence for each exercise:

I want you to stretch a bit and try some elaborate sentences.

Review simple sentences:

Confusion between a simple sentence and simple verb tense.


Simple verb tense

Simple present- habitually action, fact “She drinks green tea.” “I go to school everyday.” “Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.”

Simple past- one event finished “Last night, I talked with my son about sports.” 

Simple future- “will” “The little girl will give her dog a makeover.”

scumbag-slang word, a reprehensible person, a person with disgusting personality traits -dishonest, untrustworthy

Imperative – command, order

When you apply for a job, you might receive a PFO letter.

Should we put an exclamation mark at the end of an imperative sentence?

An exclamation point shows high emotion. It sounds like yelling.

Watch out! There is a bear behind you!

Have a cookie.

Exclamation points are overused these days.

Thank you!!! (That sounds like too much emotion.)

Exclamation points could be culturally based.

For school writing, avoid exclamation points.

Lots of ideas even for simple sentences.
