8:30 7/10 Types of sentences

Three kinds of sentences:
SIMPLE
one clause
Subject + verb
Vancouver is a nice city.
Vancouver and Burnaby are nice cities.
Vancouver is expensive but has nice parks.
S + V
SS + V
S + VV

COMPOUND
two simple sentences put together
Vancouver is nice. It is expensive.
Vancouver is nice, but it is expensive.


Vancouver is expensive but has nice parks. SIMPLE
Vancouver is expensive, but it has nice parks.
COMPOUND
SV, FANBOYS SV.
FANBOYS - for and nor but or yet so
She is wearing a sweater, for it is cold. STRANGE
She speaks neither German, nor does she speak French. XXX
She doesn't speak German or French. AUTHENTIC
It it rainy, yet we are going to go to the park. UNUSUAL
It it rainy, but we are still going to go to the park. 
AUTHENTIC

for and nor but or yet so
so or but and SOBA - high-frequency words, we use them all the time, every day
She likes coffee, but he likes tea.
I like yakisoba, but I don't eat it very often.
