SIMPLE

Vancouver is a nice city.

Vancouver and Burnaby are nice cities.

Vancouver is expensive but has lots of parks.


COMPOUND
2 simple sentences put together
Vancouver is a nice city. It is quite expensive.
Vancouver is a nice city, but it is quite expensive.
SV + SV

coordinating conjunctions FANBOYS
FANBOYS - for and nor but or yet so
She is wearing a hat, for it is sunny today. WEIRD
She is wearing a hat because it is sunny today.
She doesn't speak French, not does she speak German. UNNATURAL
She doesn't speak French or German.
It is rainy, yet we will go to the park. UNUSUAL
It is rainy, but we will go to the park.
