SIMPLE

subject + verb
"She runs."
"She runs in the park."
"She runs in the park every Tuesday."
"She runs in the park every Tuesday evening."
"She runs in the park every Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock."
"She runs in the park every Tuesday evening from 7-8:30."
"Kathy runs in the park every Tuesday evening from 7-8:30."

good advice/ important ideas in your life- simple sentence
"Always be honest." -imperative sentence
give a command
"You Always be honest." implied subject

"Come in." "You come in."- very aggressive

SHORT IS GOOD

COMMON ERROR
"I am a musician, I like to play guitar."
"I am a musician. I like to play guitar."

Simple sentences are strong and confident.
They are not low level sentences.

SUBJECT
noun- thing, person, place, time, idea
thing- pen, table, computer
person- everybody, he, she, Mary, 
place- school, Vancouver, bathroom, Main Street, home
time- Tuesday, January, morning, 19th Century
idea (abstract noun)- fear, happiness, sadness, worry, terror, anxiety, excellence, freedom, knowledge, wisdom, stength

"Anxiety is big challenge for her." 
"Excellence in math is her goal."


PREDICATE
verb

1. Maria loves ice cream.
Freedom is great/ our right/ precious.

2. The dog ran and jumped.
Maria will finish high school and go to college.

These verbs can be followed by either an infinitive or a gerund with no difference in meaning:
begin, start, continue, like, love, prefer, hate, can’t stand
For example:
                   It began to rain.
                   It began raining.
