Thesis statement- 3 parts- topic, controlling idea, predictor (opt)

1.   cannot be a question, must be a statement

2.   must be a complete sentence

3.   must express opinion (argument, position) or intent

4.   must state controlling idea

5.   only one controlling idea

e.g. Chocolate

Do you love chocolate?  I do very much.  Chocolate is pleasing to three of my senses: sight, smell, and taste.
