1. to owe money to somebody - to be in debt to somebody  Why 'to'? idiomatic, try to remember it

2. The kids insisted on having a sleepover. gerund
The kids insisted on ice cream.
I wanted to go to Hawaii, but my wife insisted on California.
My father insists on having supper at 5 o'clock.

3. She is opposed to the legalization of marijuana.
She is supportive of the legalization of marijuana.

6. She was faced with a big problem.
He was faced with a rent increase.

9. Can you distinguish this type of green tea from that that kind?

She is a distinguished-looking woman. 

11. The city of Victoria was named after Queen Victoria.
You were named after your grandmother.
