          Having a nice ice cream on a hot day with your friends is a sweet treat that almost everybody enjoys. Who doesn’t have a favourite flavour of ice cream? Since I became an adult, I have grown to love chocolate ice cream. I prefer chocolate ice cream that is made with dark chocolate. I like the rich and slightly bitter smell. When I bite into a cold, slightly crunchy scoop of chocolate ice cream, I love the sweet delicious taste. The creamy ice cream melts in my mouth. It is so yummy. It makes me feel happy. The texture is creamy and smooth. Eating chocolate ice cream satisfies my craving for sugar and sweetness sweet tooth. It is very refreshing. If I add chocolate chips or hazel nuts, it is even more scrumptious. I look forward to the next time I can enjoy a mouth-watering chocolate ice cream cone on a hot day with my friends.

Native English speakers rarely use ‘whom’.  We say ‘who’.

MY FREE ADVICE: Forget about ‘whom’. It is not important.

One exception about ‘whom’. writing to someone, don’t know who will be receiving the letter

There is a saying in Japanese: ‘Even monkeys fall from trees.’ It means everyone makes mistakes. It’s important to keep going after you did something wrong.

Comma usage

Some teacher say ‘Never start a sentence with ‘because’. This is not really true.

You can if you want. Remember the comma.

It’s up to you which way you want to write it. Both are excellent.

**if- maybe yes, maybe no, undecided

 

Sarah will go for a walk if the rain stops.

If the rain stops, Sarah will go for a walk.

 

Junko will wear a skirt if it is not raining.

If it is not raining, Junko will wear a skirt.

If it is raining, she will wear pants and rainboots.

SLANG rainboots, rubber boots – puddle jumpers

 

We will go to the party if we’re free.

If we’re free, we’ll go to the party.

 

Her son will go play soccer if it is not too windy.

VERB FORM- go V

Let’s go play soccer. – leave here and do something in another place

** GOOD POINT Present perfect goes well with ‘since’.

Mei has been picking up extra shifts at work since she is saving for university tuition. REASON

People will understand your meaning from context.

 

* ever since – TIME, feels like a long time

I have been waiting for the bus since 12:05.

I have been waiting for the bus ever since 11:30. feels like a long time

 

She has been studying English ever since she was in elementary school.

Dave has played piano ever since he was six. He has been playing for 34 years.

when/while -time

when – one time

while- two things happening at the same time

while – contrast, difference (not very common)
