Three streams of money for retired people in Canada:

1.CPP Canada Pension Plan- pay into it every paycheque, can be taken starting ages 60-70, lifelong benefit

2.OAS Old-Age Security- how many year have you lived in Canada, max 40 years – 65-70, lifelong

3.GIS- Guaranteed Income Supplement- low-income seniors

 

Other sources of income for retirement

1.RRSP – Registered Retirement Savings Plan- you saving money depending on your income, tax break

2.TFSA- Tax-Free Avings Account  $7000/yr

3. Company pension- not common

 

Everyone pays income tax and employment insurance(EI). These are not for your retirement.

 

Money for children’s education RESP -Registered Education Savings Plan- you contribute, gov contributes as well
