First of all, the main reason why newcomers should learn English fluently is that they could integrate better with the new society in Canada if they have a high level of English.

First of all, newcomers should learn English fluently. They could integrate better with the new society in Canada if they have a high level of English.

Learning English takes a long time to do especially when you are working or are a new immigrant and if you have children you want to be able to talk to the teachers of your children because that is very important so that you can communicate clearly, and you also can get a good job and then you will have a good life and meet lots of new people and have a better life in Canada.

RW

Learning English takes a long time to do. This is especially true when you are working or are a new immigrant; also, if you have children you want to be able to talk to the teachers of your children. That is very important so that you can communicate clearly. As well, you also can get a good job, Then you will have a good life. Furthermore, you can meet lots of new people. If you learn English well, you probably  will have a better life in Canada.

I put together two model paragraphs. This my writing. If this comes back to me in a test, it will get a 0.

Opinion paragraph. Should newcomers become fluent in English.

From my point of view, newcomers to Canada should become fluent in English. There are three reasons why. / There are three reasons why this would benefit them. Firstly / Firstly / First of all, fluency/being fluent in English will greatly increase the person's chance of getting a good job. When I came to Canada, I thought my English was very good. However, I soon realized that it was not as strong as I thought. Now that my English is improving, I feel I have more opportunity and confidence to improve my job/ get employment. Secondly/Next, going to a school to learn a new language can help you become exposed to new friends, new cultures, new languages, etc. Canada is a multicultural country. An English-learning classroom is a fantastic place to learn about people from all around the world. Also, you may find a few new friends. Thirdly, being fluent in/learning English can help you to have independence/do things by yourself. Often we have to talk to a doctor. Sometimes we have to talk to our children's teacher. In the same way, when we go shopping, being able to speak English well would be a great benefit to us. For these few reasons, I definitely agree that newcomers should become fluent in/ learn/get good at/ become proficient in English.

Should people live together before they get married.

People living together before they get married is a very divisive/difficult/interesting issue. Some people feel it's OK. Other people think it's a terrible idea. For me, I think living together before you get married is a good idea. There are two main reasons why I feel this way. First of all, when you live together, you get to see how the other person acts on a daily basis. You get to learn about their good and bad habits. For example, are they a quiet person? Are they a clean person? Do they pick up their clothes off the floor? Do they wash their own dishes? These are things that are very important to know about a person you're thinking about marrying. Secondly, when you live with the person, you get to learn how they spend money. How healthy is the person’s relationship to money? Money arguments are the number one  problem that couples fight about, so you have to know these things. Is the person a spender? Is the person a saver? Does the person pay off their credit card debts every month? Does the person have huge amount of debt month to month? Better to know before you get married then when you do get married and realize you've walked into a financial mess. To conclude, if the two of you are compatible on cleaning and spending, get married. If not, move on.
