Sentence combining – very effectve way to improve sentence writing

-basic level up to university level and beyond

 

- taking a few short sentences, piutting them togethe into one longer and denser sentence

dense- a lot of information in as few words as possible

 

FRENCH FRIES

1. French fries are loaded into a basket. KERNEL

3. The basket is wire.

 

PROCESS-

1.    KERNEL – usually the first sentence, centre sentence, everyhting will be attached to

3.    Combine the elements. Decide what kind of sentence would be most appropriate: simple, compound, complex

When we do sentence combining exercises, we want to use different sentence styles: SIMPLE, COMPOUND, COMPLEX.

 

You really have to know these cold. They should be automatic.
