Paragraph Review:

Format of paragraphs:

1.   14-16 point font

2.   Choose a font that is easy to read

3.   Doublespace.

4.   Indent the first word. Use the TAB key (beside the Q key).

5.   Get the writing in on time. A few minutes (3-5 m) late is ok. Anything later than that is a concern. Sometimes students have a reason why their paper will be in late; please talk to me beforehand.

Structure:

We have all studied paragraphs in past classes. You know what to do.

1.   Begin with a topic sentence. Link the topic sentence to the question.

“Referring to the CBC article, in your opinion, should kids be back in school?”

Address the question in the topic sentence.

2.   Stay on topic.

3.   Refer to related texts. You read it for HW. Show that you did.   “  “, indirect reference

4.   Be mindful of the word limit (150-200w) 90w- too short, 350w- too long, Check Word Count

Goldilocks it! Not too short, not too long.

I hope your first paragraph went well. If it did, congrats! If it didn’t do well, don’t worry. We will another paragraph in a few days. We will get better at this.

This is high-level class. Almost ready for UBC.
